General data use & privacy
All data on this website are processed based on current laws and regulations (GDPR/DSGVO). Most website visitors will enter and leave this site without providing any Personal Information (defined here as data that allows someone to identify or contact you, including, for example, your name and e-mail address). We also use cookies to passively collect Non-Personal Information (defined here as Personal Information that has been rendered anonymous) as described below.
Personal Information we collect
When we ask for Personal Information (e.g. for our newsletter, contact, or donation form), we only use that data for the specified cause. By filling out forms on this website, you grant use of your Personal Information for the intended purpose and for no further purposes. We will not give, rent, or sell your Personal Information to others.
Personal information is stored in a spreadsheet on either Dropbox or as a Google Doc. The Alliance for Freshwater Life administrators have access to those documents for preparing email or marketing campaigns. Personal information is stored in perpetuity, but you can opt out of communication through our email marketing software. You can email us at info@allianceforfreshwaterlife.com to have us remove your information from our database.
Non-Personal Information we collect
This website is hosted by Squarespace Inc. Squarespace and our other service providers, like Twitter and MailChimp, use cookies (both session cookies and persistent cookies) to analyze trends, track your movements around our Site, better understand how you interact with our Site, determine interest in particular content and monitor aggregate usage by visitors and online traffic routing.
